Okay, so at this moment, I should have been In Brazilia, Brazil... But, I’m not. On Wednesday afternoon, as I was packing for trip, a thought suddenly came to me.
'Wait, do I need a visa to get into Brazil?'
All of a sudden, panic ran through my veins and I started to check the resources online.
Yes, I did need a tourist visa. Let’s just say, from that moment until Friday afternoon, everything went chaotic and I had to rush to see impossible things happen. Fortunately, since I live in New York, I was able to physically go to the Brazilian consulate and miraculously, they rushed the procedure for me. Within a couple of hours, I got my visa. The only thing was I had to change my travel plans and leave a day later.
First off, I have to say that this entire experience has humbled me. It amazes me that I am still able to go. There were moments when I thought, okay, I guess I am not going to Brazil and I cried and cried about it. I am so thankful that in the end, the Brazilian consulate bent over backwards to let me get my visa that day when normally it takes 5 to 7 business days. So, I will be flying out today from Laguardia with my final destination to Rio. What a relief :)
omg no!!!!!!!! im so glad they helped u out though!!! SAFE TRAVELS! i cant wait to see alot of photos!

Phew! So glad you got it sorted. You know, people get so used to crappy service and/or mean people that it always comes as a shock when a person or organization goes the extra mile. I once lost my passport on a plane from Cayman to NYC. Can you believe someone actually found it, called me and met me at Penn Station the day I was leaving to return it to me so I could fly home!? It's moments like that when I feel proud of the human species :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful trip!
Oh my goodness, I am so happy everything worked out for you! You are so lucky! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteWow! This could not have happened to me ... I am a big planner. But: the night before I moved from Germany to Mexico, about 4 hours before leaving to the airport, I lost the numbers of both combination locks ... and I had sorted all the stuff in my room, but not packed by then. I was about to go to the bank, change back US$ to € and buy new suitcases ... I mean ... how long does it take to find out the combinations for two suitcases, each 4 columns of numbers?! Fortunately I had a very good friend to help me out.
ReplyDeleteHaving a little extra bother, you can enjoy your holiday even more now!
Cheers!

I'm sad looking at this, because my boyfriend wasn't so lucky! The woman said he was asking for a miracle! And our crappy ticket costs an arm and a leg to change, and it can't be processed for another several days to boot.
