Traveling without the luxury of internet

So, for the past week and a half, I have been away on my recent trip to Spain. Unfortunately, I have not been able to post on my trip because of two reasons:
1. Too busy enjoying my time there;
2. Lack of easy access to the internet;

Now, at certain points, I did have access to my friend's wireless. But, I was so busy organizing pictures and other work online that the blog came to a stand still. With all this said.... Postings on the Canary Islands are coming soon, starting on Monday!! Can't wait to share with you guys about my trip....
Does anyone have trouble finding easy access to the internet when they are traveling
Any suggestions on how to stay connected while traveling world wide?

  1. Namaste!
    And welcome back to the world of internet!
    I disagree with you at one certain point: you should not write "Traveling without the luxury of internet" but "The luxury of travelling without internet"! Seriously, there is no reason to be connected all the time. Actually, I am thrown back into stone age every once in a while, as my power pack of the notebook is ... well ... going to rest in peace soon ... . But, what shall I say. I have to admit, that I seriously and sincerely enjoy the time without internet. I mean, whoever is important to me, does have my phone number or knows other ways of how to keep in touch :-)

    Saludos,

  2. Glad you are enjoying your trip and can't wait to see the photos, that I am pretty sure will be awesome, as always.
    Most of the time I can't keep on my e-mails or blogs when travelling. No time to sit down at a Cyber Cafe to do my updates. Most of the time I forgot about it and do everything when I am back. If you have Internet on your phone or take your computer with you, you can always enjoy places with a wifi connection. But really I think the most important is to enjoy your time away!!!! The rest can wait a week?

  3. Ohh Spain! One beautiful country with lots to offer :) Please do enjoy it, no internte needed for havign a great time, right

    As for how I stay connected... Well, firstly, I try to make sure my hotel has internet access, preferably for free, even better if they have in room wi-fi... If I'm satying at friends, then it's usually easy to use theirs. If both are not possible for whatever reasons, I always do some research before the trip and find a few internet cafes nearby, so that I know where exactly to go beforehand.

  4. I use my phone and connect to the internet. But it is pretty expensive when it is international. Definitely not for uploading pictures.

  7. I'm so jealous. You get to travel all over the world! /sigh. My friend once lived in Spain and he loved it. Such an open-minded country. You can actually declare your sexuality there. For example if you are a woman but have always felt you were a man and hadn't gone through the surgery yet, you could declare that on your I.D. card and see how the life was for a year and see if the surgery was actually something you wanted to go through with. I wish America was like that.

  9. Oh wow, SPAIN! I'm really looking forward to your upcoming posts.

    During my recent trip in Malaysia, I experienced some setbacks with the internet connection there in terms of uploading the photos onto my blog. I guess it's a setback when visiting another country; you don't know exactly what their wireless connection is like and what's the best way to gain access to it. Nevertheless, I think when spending time at a country as beautiful as Spain, just enjoy every moment you have there. I agree with Marie, everything can wait. We can wait. :)

  10. Traveling without the internet is supposed to be great, you can relax, but I find it very frustrating at the same time. I like to keep connected! I can't wait to hear all about your trip!

    Thanks so much for visiting my blog! I love yours!

  11. @ Chipotlepunk!: Hey, it's been awhile. Wow, we are really different. I hear what you are saying about enjoying the luxury of not having internet, but for me it's different. When I am away, it is not so easy (or cost efficient) to just pick up the phone and call someone that I care about when ever I want. I usually use Skype and with that, you need internet. So, overall, I would prefer to have internet for just that reason... :)

    @ Marie: I totally agree!! When I was in Brazil, I was kind of spoiled because I always had internet access and it was easy to upload pics and post; Spain was a different story. But, it is all good... Thanks for commenting :)

    @ Julia, the Thanksgiving Girl: You are so right... I did enjoy just relaxing and being with friends. I think what I realized most was how much I was so used to getting online. It actually turned out to be a good break for me :)

    I am looking forward to the posts - I too find it hard to find easy access to the internet when travelling and have decided that for my next trip I am taking a small laptop or something like with me:):)
