Taco Xpress in Austin, Texas

During my visit in Austin, Texas, my friend Doc kept telling me about this place that she loved. It's called Maria's Taco Xpress on South Lamar Boulevard.

Considering we were only going to be in Austin for the weekend, I had my doubts that we would have the chance to eat there. Fortunately, we found a free moment right before we flew out...

The decor of the building is eye catching, with an immense statue of a woman outstretching her arms (I'm guessing to the public)...

And various themes, such as a jailhouse and an opera house splashed onto the facade of the restaurant.

Hmmm.... This Chihuahua looks familiar...

As we walked inside, we saw that the decor inside went hand in hand with outer design of the restaurant.

Now, what we really came for.... The Food!! Doc ordered Al Pastor tacos which is shredded pork seasoned to perfection!!

Looking at this photo reminds me of how good this was...

I ordered the huevos rancheros. I am usually not a fan of refried beans...

But, this dish has made me a fan of them.

Have any of you been to Maria's Taco Express?

Any recommendations of some other taco express restaurants near you?

Which of the two dishes would you have wanted to try?
