Traveling without the luxury of internet

So, for the past week and a half, I have been away on my recent trip to Spain. Unfortunately, I have not been able to post on my trip because of two reasons:
1. Too busy enjoying my time there;
2. Lack of easy access to the internet;

Now, at certain points, I did have access to my friend's wireless. But, I was so busy organizing pictures and other work online that the blog came to a stand still. With all this said.... Postings on the Canary Islands are coming soon, starting on Monday!! Can't wait to share with you guys about my trip....
Does anyone have trouble finding easy access to the internet when they are traveling
Any suggestions on how to stay connected while traveling world wide?

Selma: A beautiful Southern town

In all honesty, I really did not know much about the historical town of Selma. I was pleasantly surprised by it’s southern architecture and river bend views. Yet, the historical significance of Selma, shows our country’s struggles for change and wounds that are still in the process of healingThrough these photos, I hope to show some of the highlights of Selma’s history...

This here is the bridge entering into Selma which used to be known for manufacturing military supplies including confederate warships.

The St. James Hotel was originally owned by Jessie James' mistress. It is located right on the river bend.

Oh, if only these homes could talk...

Lastly, we made a quick stop by the cemetery where William R. King is buried. He is known for naming the town of Selma and for being Vice President to former President Franklin Pierce (he is also known to be the shortest  serving vice president).

Now, there is still so much to share about Selma: The 1965 Selma Voting Rights Movement & the Selma to Montgomery MarchesIf you get the chance, please read about it because it shares a bit about American history I wish I had the time to write about it in this post but unfortunately time is not on my side to do so.

    Spring is here... in Callaway Gardens

    Before heading out to Alabama, a group of us got together and stopped over in Columbus, Georgia to Callaway Gardens. It is basically this major garden where you can see everything bloom into spring. Here are a LOT of photos that I took while I was there.

    This a shot of the chandelier inside the butterfly exhibit.

    This is one of my favorite shots. Can't explain why, but it is...

    So many beautiful butterflies...

    While we were walking around, we found this chapel deep into the woods.

    The stain glass windows were mesmerizing...

    I'm not a nature enthusiast, but I truly enjoyed my time here looking at the flowers, butterflies and just getting lost in nature

    Which shots do you like?

    The Heart of Dixie

    For a little over a week, I have had the opportunity to escape the chilly weather of New York and find refuge in sunny Alabama. My church had an outreach here titled “A time to build” where the main focus was to help bring down the racial barriers that exist within the churches in Alabama. It was an incredible experience and it was truly an honor to serve and connect with the people I met here.
    My group and I visited 3 main cities here in Alabama: Opelika, Auburn & Selma. If you don’t know much about American history, definitely take the time to check it out. I am a fan of history, but typically I am more interested in European and Latin American history. Yet, since my trip here to Alabama, I have become more drawn to know more about what happened here and the bravery that existed in the people that fought against injustice (and who still fight it today). These shots are from my first couple days in Opelika, Alabama. Hope you enjoy some of the photos of our “Sweet Alabama”, known as “The Heart of Dixie”.

    The azaleas are in bloom in Alabama...

    This is downtown Opelika.

    Since it was Sunday, all the stores were closed but I loved the inside of this shop; it made me feel like I was back in the day...

    Sweet potato fries and ...

    Shrimp Po-Boy.

    You know what this is? This is buttered fried pound cake with ice cream and chocolate syrup. Dangerously delicious...

    Have you been to Alabama?
    What comes to mind when you think of Alabama
